Sweetpea Springers is a small kennel run by the Bremser/Wentz family. Joe and Rose Ann are the proud owners of our foundation bitch, Lily, and Kate is owned by Basil. Our goal is to preserve the things we love about this breed and to try to bring some of the drive and athletic ability back into the breed. All of our dogs are extremely athletic and maintain strong bird instincts. Joe and Rose Ann have owned Springers for the last 20 years and have had both house pets and hunting companions. They introduced Kate to the breed at a very young age and she was hooked for life. Kate is now fulfilling her lifelong goal of becoming a veterinarian, she will graduate from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2008.
Once Kate moved out on her own, she began looking for her very own springer. Basil was born in Apex in 2001 and came to Kate in August of that year. He is a bouncy fellow with tremendous drive and an intense need to please. As he matured, he grew into a beautiful, solid dog and Kate's dreams of her kennel were born. Basil passed all of his health certifications with flying colors and continued to excel at flyball, obedience and agility. His athleticism is incredible and wows everyone that meets him. His build is sleek and efficient and lends itself to his beautiful gaits.
In 2003, the search for our foundation bitch began. Lily was born in the mountains of North Carolina and as she grew, it was apparent that she would compliment Basil beautifully. In 2005, we welcomed the first Sweetpea litter and welcomed our new boy, Sweetpea's Lord Spike. All 5 boys have grown up strong and happy and are the joys of their homes. Our second litter arrived in October of 2006, bringing with it our 2 newest additions, Sweetpea's Prince Stewart and Sweetpea's Pure Decadence. This litter has a tremendously bright future and we can't wait to watch them grow!
